ALMOST HOME invites the audience on a unique journey of discovery through a hotel. Between the public and the private, the hidden and the revealed, the dancers play with the meaning of the hotel as a temporary home. When do I feel at home, where do I remain foreign? How do we look at one another from an anonymous distance and intimate proximity? ALMOST HOME stages the body as sculpture and dance, confronts us with our gaze on each other and searches for the immediacy of an encounter.

This inclusive and intergenerational contemporary dance project was initiated by TANZflug Zurich and developed under the artistic direction of choreographer Mirjam Gurtner in collaboration with the dancers.

In the frame of ZÜRICH TANZT, the Ensemble of ALMOST HOME gathered in the empty 25hours Hotel Zurich West to share experiences and stories about the process of creating their inclusive dance performance. Instead of the live shows, which could not be performed due to Covid 19 restrictions, the documentary allows personal encounters with the dancers and makers behind this unique project.
